This entire article is for Gen-Z. If I say you, I’m talking to a teenager.

You’ve probably seen so many motivational videos.

You’re scrolling through TikTok, seeing people living ‘The Life’.

You see videos of badass motherf***ers like David Goggins screaming at you to get your lazy ass off the couch and get to work.

You get motivated.

You do something.

Then you stop.

Like everyone else.

Everyone loves motivation.

But no one likes discipline.

The current state of Gen-Z

January is the busiest time of the year to go to the gym.

‘New year, new me’

But after a couple of months, it gets quiet again.

‘New year, same loser’

You’re driven.

You want to become something.

But you lack ‘the motivation’.

At least that’s what you tell yourself.

When people ask me, ‘How do you stay motivated to work?’

My usual response is I don’t.

I just do it.

Consciously I’ve decided that that’s what I truly want to do, so I do it.

If you feel like a piece of shit when you haven’t done the things you set out to do, that’s your body telling you:

Next time, just do it.

And you still won’t.

You feel like a piece of shit again.

You’re driven to succeed, but you’re still a loser.

The Financial Freedom Lie

You’d wish it was a lie.

It’d be an excuse as to why you haven’t achieved anything.

People have sold the dream to us.

The rise of successful people advertising their ways to gain financial freedom is unprecedented.

You’re scrolling through TikTok, seeing people living ‘The Life’.

You want that life.

You buy the SMMA/Drop-shipping/Copywriting/… course

You start off super motivated.

You see a little progress.

You want to work.

Then you get that one bad day.

That day you don’t feel that well, you have a lot of school work to do, …

So you don’t work that much, not that bad since you already made some good progress.

But little did you know, you would never touch that course again.

You say it’s the course, they scammed me, it wasn’t for me, …

Truth is, you just weren’t disciplined and you slacked off.

Making money has become a shiny object syndrome.

You jump from one bandwagon to another.

As if you’re searching for that one thing that’ll change it all.

First coding websites.

Doesn’t work.

Oh this new NFT thing is becoming popular.

People are making money on it.

“Maybe I should start too.”

You start, you quit.

Then SMMA, then drop-shipping, …

The cycle continues.

I’ll give you the only money-making hack there is.

Work.

And you need discipline for that.

How do I become disciplined?

If you can just get disciplined, you’ll get ahead of everyone else you know.

The standard is so low.

Discipline equals freedom.
— Jocko Willink

If you can get disciplined you can do whatever you want.

That sounds so paradoxical.

Doing what you don’t want to do is the only way you can do what you dream about doing.

The choice is yours.

Do what’s fun and easy now, and keep dreaming about something better.

Do what sucks and is hard now, and live the dream afterwards.

You can live ‘The Life’ you’ve been dreaming about.

But first, get disciplined.

Set out some tasks to do, and just complete them.

No matter what.

No excuses.

And don’t pretend like you don’t know what to do.

You know that exactly.

Wake up early.

Go to the gym.

Work.

Eat healthy foods.

And do that, every day, every week.

Start small.

And build up from there.

Stay consistent no matter what.

Just stick to one thing and work.

No jumping from one bandwagon to another.

Staying consistent is the only thing missing from success.

And it requires discipline.

Don’t let this article motivate you.

Just do the work.

Don’t rely on content like this to get your energy up.

Just do it.
